Won't regret it after a few mods !!! December 30, 2013
Reviewer: Manuel from Los Angeles
When I first got the knife it came in an unpressive red box, but looks are deceiving ! I opened the knifes action and was like: "Holy $&@!".. The springs are really powerful and were fired about 90 times the first day without one failure. The knife had some blade play but I fixed it by opening the blade and placing electric tape in between the tolerances. (YouTube video later) anyway the knife came dull but after sharpening it, bending pocket clip, and tape between tolerances and blade.. the price, function and look of this knife were outstanding

Very Solidly built and a great buy June 25, 2012

I bought this knife because the one I had before was just too small.  The Lightning is big, but not too big.  It is solid in feel and sharp as hell.  It extends and retracts perfectly. It has grips that provide good grip, but they are not rubberized, so I have had knives with better handgrips.  However, the grips that come with the knife are just fine.  I can use the knife with light gloves on.  I don't know about heavy gloves because I don't have a pair. The knife fits in my right side trouser pocket and is not so big as to stick out like a sore thumb.  The cutting surface is large enough to easily handle half inch rope. I am sure it can handle most heavy duty jobs, and frankly, it is now my favorite daily carry.  In Nam, I carried a K-bar.  If I did that in the States, I think it would raise too many eyebrows.  Thanks for a great knife Bladeops.

Fun to play with, but quality is lacking March 9, 2011
Reviewer: Mike from OK
I ordered this for myself for Christmas. It's got great heft, only a little blade play, and a strong action.

It does have its faults though. Within 3 days of receiving it the action of opening and closing had loosened one of the screws. It flew out and I screwed it back in. The screw is in fine shape, but the hole grip body had no valleys for the screw threads to hold on to. I took it apart, cleaned, and lubed it (it needed it, the action was gritty), and made sure all the screws were tight. A month went buy and another screw fell out. Same problem.

I decided that I could live with not opening it again and super glued the screws back in.

BTW, I did contact Blade Ops about the problem after the first screw came out, and they immediately offered me a refund. I really wanted the knife but they didn't have any replacements in stock so I opted to just keep mine.

If you want a cheap OTF that, based on other reviews, generally is reliable, than this is a good option.
