Description
Microtech's L.U.D.T. auto knives are back--and we couldn't be more excited. This side open automatic knife was first produced in the 1990's and quickly ended up as one of Microtech's fastest selling knives. That is saying a lot. The new model of the L.U.D.T. (stands for the Large version of the Underwater Demolition Team) auto knife has textured T6 black anodized aluminum handles It also has a black coated two-tone S30V plain edged blade. The two-tone look is great. This knife comes with a black nylon buckle sheath and has a removable belt clip (stainless steel). The LUDT has incredibly smooth action and a nice solid feel to it that you rarely find in most auto knives. The LUDT automatic knife is far and away one of the best automatic knives you will find in this price range. Made by Microtech, one of the leaders in all knives automatic, the LUDT is the re-issue of the same knife that was made back in the 90's. Most people know about Microtech because the absolutely dominate the market of OTF knives. This side open auto knife has a solid handle with incredibly tight action. The blade comes out fast. But most remarkable is how smooth the action is. On many auto knives, there is a slight delay after you push the button. Or, there is a jerky motion as the blade begins to move into the active position. This knife, as you push the button, the blade feels as if it is gliding open--but really fast. And then it locks up very tight. The handles have a lip around them which gives you essentially a large cupped area in which to place your fingers. This cupped area also has circular indents all through it which give you even more grip power. The trigger button is on the outside of this lip and just below the level of it. This makes it so you can access the button when you need to open the knife but you aren't likely to accidently fire it. As I said earlier, the LUDT automatic knife is easily the best of class (best auto knife at this price)--at least in my mind.
