The Spyderco Caly 3.5 is a larger, newer Bionic version of the original Calypso Jr. The latest Calypso progeny has a three and a half inch ZDP-189 leaf-shaped blade that is thick at the tang, then tapering to a tip. Also noted is the fact that this innovative blade has an internal core of ZDP-189 and is layered between two layers of 420J2 steel. The composite nature of the blade may promote uneven looking lines however please be aware that it is intentional.The flat ground cutting edge is thin for precision cutting and the ergonomic handle gives maximum control. The substantial finger choil gives you the ability to direct the blade in close cutting situations. Also the spine is textured with slip resistant jimping making the knife feels like part of the hand with no sliding forward or backward while cutting.
