While CRKT® has achieved an enviable reputation for quality with manufacturing partners in Taiwan, U.S. federal law requires that assisted opening knives be made in the U.S.A. When they decided to build the Wild Weasel, it was necessary that they find a domestic manufacturer with a new, state-of-the-art plant that could match the manufacturing quality they get in Taiwan. You be the judge. If you already own and use CRKT knives, buy a Wild Weasel and compare.
CRKT's Tailwind™ speed assist technology (patent pending) is ingeniously simple, strong and lightweight. Its over-center cam/spring design holds the folder securely closed. When either of the dual thumb studs is rotated outward 30 degrees, the Tailwind spring instantly rotates the blade to full open and locked position. Teflon® bushings at the blade pivot help make the action smooth and very fast.
The 3-1/4" hollow ground modified drop point blade is premium 154CM stainless steel at 58-60 Rc. with a non-reflective light bead blast finish. The InterFrame handle consists of two 410 stainless steel liners, one locking, and scales of gray hard anodized 6061 aluminum with black Santoprene inserts inlaid at strategic points on both sides of the knife. To aid grip, the handle has deep finger choils and a pronounced pommel.
Measures 4-3/8" closed and weighs 4.0 oz. Includes a removable, reversible pocket/gear clip of 410 stainless steel with light bead blast finish. Made in the U. S. A.

The Flash I by SOG is one of the greatest small knives out there. It is simple and fast to open. It comes out fast because it uses the SOG Assisted Technology™ (S.A.T.), which employs a powerful piston lock that is easily released with a sliding button. And the Flash is small enough to carry in you pocket. Along those lines, SOG designed it with a bayonet mounted reversible clip that gives you the ability to carry this knife extremely low and discreetly. The handle is made of glass-reinforced Zytel™ and the straight edge, satin finish blade is AUS8. The SOG Flash also comes standard withan additional safety lock that gives added security when the blade is closed
|
Our upgraded line of Presto knives feature an attractive aluminum handle with rubber inserts and use Gerber's patented F.A.S.T. assisted opening technology for quick, easy, one-handed deployment. A safety protects user while the blade is in open and closed positions. Available April, 2007.
|

Look through the CRKT catalog, and you will see page after page of successful hunting and fishing knife designs by Knifemakers’ Guild member and Alaskan guide Russ Kommer, whose custom knife shop is now in Fargo, North Dakota. But Russ blew us away with his prototype for the Full Throttle™, which is definitely a rock-solid personal frame-lock folder that is made even slicker by the addition of our patented* OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism. It is a classy everyday carry with a flat profile that fills the hand and has perfect balance.
His design uses a hefty open build. The frames are 420J2 stainless steel in a lightly textured 25-micron-thick blue/black polyurethane hard enamel finish. Often used for surveillance equipment, tripods and computer parts, this thin, hard coating gives superior protection from corrosion, abrasion, and impact. A pronounced finger choil enhances grip.
Gold-plated fasteners, blade stop pin, and dual checkered thumb studs add a distinctive custom touch. We have also replicated Russ’s back spacer in gold-anodized 6061 T6 aluminum, complete with CNC-machined file work.
The premium AUS 8 stainless steel blade in a high satin finish features a high-hollow grind. Both Razor-Sharp and our exclusive Combination Razor-Sharp and Veff™ Serrated edges are available. Designed by knifemaker Tom Veff, these unique scalloped and angled serrations cut through rope and cord smoothly without snagging.
Both blade styles are available in conventional non-assisted opening models, or with our patented* OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. All have bronze and Teflon® bearings at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action.
A high-mounted custom removable mirror-finish stainless steel clothing/gear clip gives this rugged all-metal work knife great versatility for carry in pockets or on belts and gear.
As usual, we have priced Russ’s design very competitively to assure that it is an excellent value, and as we do with all our knives, backed it with the CRKT lifetime limited warranty. It’s a knife designed to perform, whether at idle, cruising speed, or Full Throttle.

Canadian knifemaker Brian Tighe is a true Renaissance Man, with an array of professional skills including tool and die making, metallurgy, engraving and photography. In his St. Catharines, Ontario, workshop, he produces a wide array of custom folders, all with those signature touches that immediately make them stand out as Brian Tighe knives.
We have carefully translated Brian’s popular My Tighe custom frame-lock folder into an affordable production line, with four models in bead-blast finish and two in black. At first glance, the knife seems like a design exercise until you grasp it and understand that the concave cut scales are craftily shaped to enhance grip, aggressive with contours in just the right places.
Brian’s blade design is unique too, with its asymmetrical spine facets, high-hollow grind and deep belly with recurve. We use 1.4116 stainless steel in a high satin finish and offer both Razor-Sharp and our exclusive Combination Razor-Sharp and Veff™ Serrated edges. Designed by knifemaker Tom Veff, these unique scalloped and angled serrations cut through rope and cord smoothly without snagging. On our “K” models, the blade is coated with black non-reflective titanium nitride for maximum corrosion resistance.
The frame-lock folder has an open build with heavy-duty 420J2 stainless steel frames and a 6061 T6 aluminum back spacer. Frames are bead-blast on the bright models, and black EDP plated on the “K” models. The injection-molded black Zytel® scales have a carbon fibre texture. Torx® fasteners are used throughout.
Each model is available in conventional non-assisted opening models, or with our patented* OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. All have bronze and Teflon® bearings at the adjustable blade pivot for fast action.

All models feature a removable black Teflon-plated pocket/gear clip.
It’s hard to ignore any Brian Tighe design, especially these highly personal work knives. Carry one and you will certainly start a conversation among knife fanciers everywhere. The knife industry was so impressed at the Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia, it was named the 2006 Imported Knife of the Year

Pat Crawford, who operates Crawford Knives in West Memphis, Arkansas, with his son Wes, is a mellow and soft-spoken custom knifemaker. But there is nothing mellow about his custom Triumph™ Folder which Pat calls, “a fast cutting machine for professionals.”
He says, “I was impressed by the strength and slashing ability of a reverse-curve Tanto blade, so that was where I started designing the Triumph. It has a different look, not as art, but as an entirely functional shape.”
Like Pat’s customs, our production Triumph Folder is a large and formidable tactical knife designed for grip, with double finger choils, thumb friction grooves and deeply grooved G10 scales. The 420J2 stainless steel liners, one locking, are a hefty 0.1” thick.
The beefy 0.14” thick blade is a dual-grind Tanto with a recurve to aid cutting and a false top edge grind for penetrating power. Blade steel is premium AUS 8 stainless steel. Both Razor-Sharp as well as Combined Razor-Sharp and our exclusive Veff™ Serrated edges are available. Developed by Oregon City, Oregon, knife designer Tom Veff, these serrations are wide and angled at 60 degrees to the edge. The resulting cutting points bite instantly and dig deep upon contact, slicing smoothly and effortlessly.
The Triumph Folder is available with our patented(1) OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees.
To maximize safety, we built in our exclusive patented(2) AutoLAWKS™ safety that automatically actuates when the folder is opened and locked, creating a virtual fixed blade instantly.
Two color schemes are available. The “K” series has a matte black EDP coated blade with special black and green G10 scales. The “TS” series features a camo tiger-striped non-reflective blade with black G10 scales. Diagonal CNC-machined grooves in the G10 give excellent grip in wet and muddy conditions.
The Triumph is fully ambidextrous, with dual thumb studs that allow fast either-hand opening.
The two-position black Teflon®-plated stainless clip is removable and allows left or right tip-down carry.
As Pat Crawford says, “Speak softly, and carry a big Triumph.”

We were delighted when internationally known Japanese knifemaker and American Knifemakers’ Guild member Koji Hara agreed to design a personal knife for CRKT. Koji is noted for his custom folders in exotic materials, and is especially known for his carving of the handle material into a classic terraced landscape that he calls his “Air-Step” design. Our goal was to apply Koji’s remarkable design sense to a small personal folder which could incorporate our patented OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism.
Logically, we called this first CRKT Koji Hara series Ichi™, Japanese for “one.”
For rigidity and strength, we used our InterFrame open build, with two 420J2 stainless steel liners. In a first for CRKT, we created layered injection-molded scales of Kraton® and Zytel®, the latter with Koji’s terraced Air-Step design. The result is a small knife that gives good grip, fits the hand nicely, and is truly functional for a variety of work tasks.
The handle tapers neatly into a modified drop point pen blade with a high- hollow grind made of high-carbon stainless steel. An ambidextrous thumb disk allows easy one-hand opening.
The Ichi is available in three color schemes: The bright version has a bead-blast blade, frame, and clip with gray Zytel scale inserts and black fasteners. The black-out version features a black titanium nitride blade coating, black Zytel inserts, black hardware and black Teflon®-plated clip. The red and black version features the same black blade, insert and clip treatment as the black-out version with a subtle red scale tone. If desired, the stainless steel clips are easily removed.
Each model is available in conventional non-assisted opening models, or with our patented* OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. All have bronze and Teflon® bearings at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action.
Most of us can’t carry a Koji Hara custom collectible daily, but the Ichi is a friendly and affordable reminder of one of Japan’s premier custom knifemakers.

Packing an awesome punch, Cold Steel’s® Triple Action® proves that the power and strength of a formidable cutting tool doesn’t require a folding knife with the weight of an anvil.
Closing to a length of only 5 inches and weighing only 3.5 ounces, the Triple Action® Folding Knife is a dynamite innovation.
A super-tough blade of VG-1 stainless steel provides superb cutting ability in the world’s finest combination of blade strength and flexibility. The aircraft grade aluminum handle (roll engraved with a distinctive pattern) gives the Triple Action® an exceptional look, and the pocket clip makes it easy to carry. Cold Steel’s® Triple Action® Folder is among the safest knives you can carry. When closed, the blade is totally encapsulated by the locking cover, and when open the solid aluminum construction and heavy duty lock prevent the blade from closing. So, the Triple Action® Folder is as strong as (or possibly even stronger than) a butterfly knife while also being legal to carry in most states where the butterfly is banned.
When closed, the Triple Action® Folder is a force to be reckoned with. Its solid construction makes it very stiff, strong, and unyielding in tough situations, giving its user confidence in its effectiveness and eliminating any fear of breaking the knife. Remarkably well suited for use as an impact weapon to attack an opponent’s nerve centers and repel or subdue an assailant, the closed Triple Action® serves admirably as an improvised “Yawara” stick. Because it is extremely thin and flat, the hand encircles it comfortably and completely, promoting a very secure grip which will allow the striking of powerful blows.
