I received the knife yesterday and am impressed with how sharp it was "right out of the box" . I took i to my Spyderco Tri-angle "Sharpmaker" and whipped up an extremely wicked edge! While the Sandvik steel isn't the most robust of the industry, this American-made stiletto should hold its own when push-comes-to-shove. There's no doubt that it is a self-defense piece, but it can tackle most daily cutting tasks as well . It is light enough and better than the average Italian stiletto for daily tasks. (I'm certain that it will hold an edge FAR longer than most Italian knives with their 420 Stainless Steel, standard-grind blades. I like this knife a great deal and will drop it in my sports-jacket pocket when I'm out on the town. (A larger city is not a place to go unprepared for a personal-defense situation. This is a nice last-ditch, "back-up" bit of kit that could "take the worry out of being close". ;) This American-made blade is more than worth the price. Snatch one up. Keep it sharp as well as properly maintained. You won't regret it.
