Benchmade 300SN Ball Axis Flipper Knife
When the Benchmade 300SN first arrived in our store, I knew I had to have one of these knives. Built with possibly the smoothest glide system ever--the Ball glide allows this knife to open with just a slight push on the spine flipper. To open it even faster, just give a flick of your wrist and the blade snaps into the open position and locks up tight via the AXIS system.
BLADE
A 3.18" drop point blade of 154CM stainless steel graces the 300SN. The blade is a classic shape and the size makes it perfect for every day carry. The 154CM takes a great edge and has good toughness and great corrosion resistance. 154CM is an American made premium grade stainless steel developed originally for heavy industrial applications. Over time, knife manufacturers realized that it made for fantastic knife blades and began to use it quite heavily in the knife industry. This premium grade stainless steel is a fantastic blend--giving you a high quality blade at a reasonable price. There are three, extremely deep jimping grooves on the thumb ramp that give you extra control for fine as well as heavy cuts. The blade locks open with the AXIS system.
HANDLE
The handle is brown and tan textured and layered G10 machined into a comfortable, ergonomic shape that gives you high blade control and maximum anti slippage. With three deep finger grooves, your grip on the handle scales is extremely solid. The spine flipper doubles as a blade guard and extends the forefinger groove so that your hand has nearly no chance of slipping up onto the blade even during heavy cuts. In the closed position, the handle measures 4.25" which makes for a good fit in your pocket.
The pocket clip is tip up and right/left reversible. It is a deep carry pocket clip, which I really like as it allows for an extremely incospicuouscarry.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
If you prefer a manual open knife, the Benchmade 300SN Ball Axis flipper is a fabulous choice. It opens smooth, the size is ideal for daily carry, the blade will give you decades of heavy use with proper care, and the handle has all the right grooves for a solid grip. I rate this knife a 9.75 out of 10. I like it so much I carry it myself.
