Description

This Microtech Ultratech OTF automatic knife features a contoured black handle complete with standard bead blasted hardware and an integrated glass breaker function along with a tanto style blade in a stonewash finish.

The Ultratech without question has been Microtech's flagship out the front auto knife since its induction in 1999. Recently it has gone through an additional aesthetic redesign after the overwhelming success and praise of the traditional styling. While the dimensions of the Ultratech remain unchanged, the handle has been stripped back down to its original roots--now offering a smooth contoured chassis, however still boasting the tri-angle hardware, a redesigned thumb slide and the glass breaker that now includes a press fitted ball bearing for a more comfortable, but still functional, user experience. Each Microtech OTF knife has extremely sophisticated internal mechanisms which improve the overall operational functionality and reliability.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a Microtech Ultratech 123-10 Tanto blade and yes it is awesome! Feels perfect in your hand and deployment has a strong kick. M390 blade holds an edge forever and a day! Yes it's expensive but it's worth it!

  • Awesome OTF

Don't let anyone tell you that M390 is a b**** to sharpen because it's not! Although I'm not "freehand" sharpening anymore means I've purchased a knife sharpening system like KME or equivalent. Set the blade in the clamp and start sharpening. After it's stopped on leather it will definitely shave very easily! M390 super steel holds an edge forever and a week!!! Takes a long time to wreck the razor edge! Superior Knife!

I got this yesterday and has been in my hand ever since. I own a few other otf knives like the Benchmade Infidel and Infidel Mini which I've been using as edc when with my wife and kids. I own a less expensive lighting 2 which I carry at work cause it gets pretty beat up and dirty. I plan on using this Ultratech as edc with wife and kids and rotate it with the infidels. The thing that stands out to me with this knife is how slim it is in my hand and quite comfortable. I like the action a little better than the infidel. It seems to be more firm and less distance you have to move your thumb for the action. I was looking forward to the m390 steel. I'm excited to see how the edge retention is compared to the infidels D2 steel which is ok but the blade only lasts a couple of months until dull.

  • This knife is very well made and it's slim profile makes it very comfortable for daily carry.

The blade is scalpel sharp and I've only owned it for 5 days so I have no comment as to how the edge will hold up yet.
