I was surprised to discover the Troodon is much smaller than the Combat Troodon - about the size of the UTX 85 with slightly different proportions. Build quality was expected MT, meaning crisp details. The Troodon is "taller" than the UTX 85, and somewhat narrower with a much smaller firing button that travels about 75% of the distance of the UTX 85. The smaller button is easier on soft thumb pads and the Troodon requires less force to fire the blade, though it certainly comes out fast and solid. the stonewashed D/E blade is a bitt narrower than the UTX 85 as well. I opted for Elmax steel and the blade came supremely sharp! The Troodon is about 4/10th of an ounce lighter than the UTX 85 and in typically MT fashion, launches a lot of blade area from a small handle. That's one of the many things that sets MT OTF knives apart from all others - compact chassis designs that push out a lot of blade, light weight, and built MT tough. The Troodon appears to be a more refined design than the Ultratech series, but it really doesn't matter because once you have one, you will eventually have to acquire the other!
