SOG makes fantastic knives. Their new Creed Fixed Blade knife is absolutely no exception. Featured in this month's (April 2010) Blade magazine and endorsed by R. Lee Ermey, aka "The Gunny", this fixed blade knife performs. The Creed has a Rockwell hardness of 57-58 Rc and the extra belly area near the tip makes it real easy to chop and pierce. This handle on this knife is based on SOG's Tech Bowie. Made iwth a Kraton rubber grip interspaced with white washers, the handle has a double guard and a nice solid butt with a lanyard hole in it. This knife comes with a fantastic leather sheath. The Creed is made to work. Knife Category: Fixed Blade Knife Blade Style: Bowie Action: Fixed Blade Blade Length: 7.5" Blade Thickness: .24" Blade Material: AUS 8, Satin Finish Open Length: 12.125" Closed Length: 12.125" Weight: 12.8 Ounces Handle Thickness: Handle Width: Handle Material: Kraton Sheath Material: Leather

First thoughts on the Creed. WOW! This fixed blade knife has everything I am looking for and very little I don't like. Let's start with the blade. The Creed is definitely in the heavyweight class of fixed blade knives. At 12.8 ounces, you can tell that the Creed will get some momentum as you swing it. Although it is similar in size to the standard KaBar, the SOG Creed is in a whole other class of knife. It is just a little longer than the KaBar and the weight is well forward on the blade due to the shape of the knife. This gives it a very smooth swing and a ton of force behind it. It also performs well when using it in a piercing motion. The handle is great. The Creed is absolutely the best fixed blade survival knife/combat knife I have seen in a long time.
