Description BladeOps Knife Reviews
Smith & Wesson new assisted knife series, the Black Ops Spring Assist Knives, are the best spring assist knives on the market in the sub $40 price range.  The SWBLOP2D is a strong and sturdy knife.  Made with a suprisingly ergonomic Desert Sand colored, composite body that is extremely dense, this lightweight knife has the performance of a high end, expensive spring assisted knife.  It opens with the ambidextrous thumb studs. You give it a start and the spring takes over and snaps the blade open.  It is fast and the lock up is tight.  And the liner lock knife is easy to close again.  The SWBLOP series has a slide safety about halfway down the handle.   It comes with a tip up, removable pocket clip that allows the knife to ride fairly deep in your pocket.  The blade on the SWBLOP2D is 4034 stainless steel, black teflon coated, and plain edged.  This fantastic spring assist knife will quickly become your new favorite every day carry knife--all at an unbeatable price.

Promising But not quite right August 16, 2010

My black ops arrived today the first thing that really through me for a loop was the positioning of the thumb stud, it's so high up on the knife that your hand get's in the way of it opening unless you basically wrap your fist around it and then it's just awkward to open. Sometimes it doesn't even open all the way. I will say I really enjoy the blade. Although it's not the highest quality steel it is up there and it came out of the box razor sharp. The pocket clip is also great nice and deep so no chance of loosing it. The safety is ridiculous. The knife is 'safe' when it is in the upward position. This seems dangerous if I put my hand in my pocket or knock against something I could easily take the knife out of 'safe mode'. Also there is no indicator to tell you when it is not safe, for instance my Gerber has a red dot.

Over all I feel this knife has potential but I feel it really needs some work I will be returning it and getting either another Gerber or a SOG.
