The Spyderco Byrd Crow 2 folder knife is one of many new folders released by Spyderco this year. This model features a full flat ground stainless steel blade comprised of upgraded CTS-BD1 which is the top-end steel in the Bryd family line of knives and the handle includes an open-back design for easy care-free maintenance. The Crow 2 utilizes Byrd's Linerlock mechanism--a leaf-like spring split from the liner to wedge laterally against a ramped surface on the tang of the blade. This knife is part of Spyderco's Byrd family which offers all of the same functionality and convenience of Spyderco's production models but at a lower price point for the budget-conscious or those especially new to knives. This model, the BY09GP2, features a black textured G-10 handle, a satin finished drop point style blade, skeletonized stainless steel liners, Byrd's trademark comet-shaped hole opening feature and an ambidextrous pocket clip which allows for tip up carry only but is eligible for left or right hand carry options.

Blade ops is probably my new go to online knife retailer. Great prices, great inventory and much better shipping for westerners than the multitude of retailers based in the east. As far as the knife goes, i usually avoid spyderco because i don't like their cachet. But my collection is getting somewhat large and i finally decided that owning one wouldn't hurt my soul after all. I looked long and hard first at the cat, then i became aware of the raven and the crow. The fact that i could only find the crow in one place, and for a better price than all the cats and ravens swayed me. Once i had the crow in my hand it was obvious to me that i don't need a raven. The cat is still intriguing to me because the blade steel is not the same as the others (as i thought it was when i purchased), and I have not had the chance to experience a wire clip yet. Still, i am very happy with the crow and with BladeOps.

I have enjoyed most of the Byrd series knives. Tested it a little and fits nicely in the hand. Can't wait to give to my friend!

This is an excellent little knife. Came razor sharp the blade steel is bd1 an upgrade from the usual value line steel. Blade was centered, fills the hand perfectly..Carrys very well. I don't know why it was discontinued.Maybe they're bring it back in the future..

Great size, easy to open, nice blade. Overall a great knife I really like the ease in opening. That little bit extra gives my large thumb the necessary grip to flip it open.
